Featured by Law Enforcement Today
It means a lot any time a publication takes the time to look at what I’m building and understand the heart behind it.
I was recently featured by Law Enforcement Today in an article titled “The Sound of Service on West Virginia’s Mountain Highways.” The piece focused on my music, the first responder lane of Cecil Odell Music, and the larger mission behind The Sound of the West Virginia Line. It also highlighted my West Virginia State Police song and the broader work I’ve been doing to honor law enforcement, sheriff’s departments, and first responders across the Mountain State.
What mattered most to me about the feature was that it recognized this project for what it is.
This music has never been about empty slogans or surface-level tribute. It has always been about building songs from real West Virginia ground — real roads, real counties, real work, real risk, and real people. I’ve wanted these songs to feel like home to the communities they represent and to carry respect for the people who wear the badge and answer the call.
The article also touched on my long-term county-by-county project, The Sound of the West Virginia Line, and my goal of documenting the state with honesty and respect, one song at a time. It mentioned my family connection to law enforcement and the charity vision behind the work as well, which made the feature feel even more personal.
I’m grateful to Law Enforcement Today for taking the time to feature Cecil Odell Music and for helping more people see what this project is really about.
If you found the music through that article, welcome.
And if you’ve already been here supporting the songs, the videos, the releases, and the mission behind all of it, thank you. I don’t take any of it lightly.
There is still a lot more coming.
Cecil Odell
