Cecil Odell Music is built on a simple belief: music should honor where we come from, respect the people who serve, and help tell the stories of communities that deserve to be remembered.
Rooted in West Virginia
Cecil Odell Music is a West Virginia-based independent music project built around original songs, community storytelling, and meaningful tribute work.
The music draws inspiration from the people, places, history, work ethic, and spirit of West Virginia. From small towns and county roads to coal communities, first responders, veterans, working families, and local traditions, the goal is to create music that feels connected to real life.
This project is not about chasing trends. It is about building something honest, lasting, and rooted in place.
Honoring First Responders
One of the strongest parts of the Cecil Odell Music mission is recognizing the men and women who serve their communities.
The West Virginia sheriff tribute project was created to honor county sheriff’s departments across the state through original music. The project has now reached all 55 counties.
The mission also extends to volunteer fire departments, EMS, dispatchers, veterans, and other public servants who often serve quietly without the recognition they deserve.
Respect comes first. Community comes first. The story comes first.
The Long-Term Giveback Goal
Cecil Odell Music is a for-profit business. Product sales, music income, and merchandise purchases help support the operation, growth, and continued creation of the project.
At the same time, the bigger goal is to keep building ways for the music and business to support the people who inspired it.
Future giveback efforts may include fundraising campaigns, department-specific merchandise, direct support projects, benefit events, sponsorship opportunities, partnership campaigns, and other community-based efforts.
Any separate fundraiser or charitable-style campaign will be clearly identified and explained so supporters can understand where funds are intended to go.
Purchases from Cecil Odell Music are regular retail purchases and are not represented as charitable contributions or tax-deductible donations.
Music With Purpose
The goal is not only to release songs. The goal is to create music with a reason behind it.
Some songs are written to preserve stories. Some are written to honor departments. Some are written to celebrate West Virginia pride. Others come from family memory, working-class life, small-town culture, and the people who shaped the artist behind the music.
Every project should mean something.
Supporting Local Communities
Cecil Odell Music aims to work with local departments, organizations, businesses, and community leaders whenever possible.
That can include partnerships with first responders, local events, fundraising efforts, co-branded merchandise, music projects, sponsorships, community storytelling, and support campaigns.
The goal is to create relationships that are useful, respectful, and built for the long term.
Built on Family Legacy
The mission is also personal.
Cecil Odell Music carries the name of the artist’s grandfather, Odell Cecil, who served in the United States Army during World War II. Family history also includes West Virginia law enforcement, public service, coal country, and generations of hard work.
Those values shape the music and the mission: loyalty, service, family, respect, hard work, and remembering where you came from.
Where We Are Going
The vision for Cecil Odell Music is to grow into a strong independent West Virginia brand that connects music, merchandise, storytelling, and community impact.
That means releasing more original music, expanding merchandise, growing partnerships, supporting local departments, building first responder projects, creating live events, and finding new ways to give back.
The mission will continue to grow, but the foundation will stay the same:
