The Mission

Cecil Odell Music is a West Virginia-rooted project built around original music that honors the people who serve our state, including first responders, veterans, and the communities they protect. At the center of this work is the 55-County Sheriff Tribute Series, a completed song-by-song tribute to every county sheriff's department in West Virginia. Beyond the series, the broader mission is to use music as a tool for community recognition, storytelling, fundraising projects, partnerships, and long-term support.

Cecil Odell Music is also working toward the long-term goal of building The Sound of the West Virginia Line First Responders Relief Fund, a future giveback effort intended to help support West Virginia first responders and the communities they serve.

Why It Fits

This is not a national campaign looking for a West Virginia angle. This project was built here, with West Virginia people, for West Virginia communities. Collaboration happens face to face. The connection to first responders and local departments is real and ongoing. If your organization serves or supports the people of this state, there is a natural place for us to work together.

Proof of the Mission

  • Full 55-County Sheriff Tribute Series, completed statewide
  • Original music honoring first responders, veterans, and West Virginia communities
  • Face-to-face collaboration with departments, organizations, businesses, and community leaders across West Virginia
  • Music available on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and other major streaming platforms
  • Ongoing work toward The Sound of the West Virginia Line First Responders Relief Fund, a future giveback effort intended to help support first responders and communities

Mission Supporters and Community Partners

The following departments, businesses, organizations, and community partners have supported Cecil Odell Music, The Sound of the West Virginia Line, and the broader mission of using music to honor and serve West Virginia communities.

Tunnelton Volunteer Fire Department

Tunnelton, West Virginia

Tunnelton Volunteer Fire Department is one of the real-world department projects connected to the Cecil Odell Music mission. Cecil Odell Music wrote and produced a fundraising album for Tunnelton VFD, designed and produced their 2027 calendars, and personally donated a signed guitar to help support the department.

This partnership shows what The Sound of the West Virginia Line can look like beyond songs online: music, merchandise, printed projects, fundraising support, community involvement, and real effort working together to help recognize and support the people who serve West Virginia.

The Thin Line Rock Station

Radio Support for Veterans and First Responders

The Thin Line Rock Station is a large broadcast station dedicated to veterans, first responders, and the people who serve. Some Cecil Odell Music songs are now in rotation on the station, helping carry The Sound of the West Virginia Line to an audience closely connected to the mission.

The station has also offered to air a public service announcement for the Cecil Odell Music mission. That support helps bring more awareness to the work being built around West Virginia communities, first responders, veterans, and the people who hold the line.

Steve Thomas

Steve Thomas has been a strong supporter of Cecil Odell Music and the mission behind The Sound of the West Virginia Line.
